We Can Ride is a unique organization that unites a committed community of staff, volunteers, supporters and, of course, horses. We are a small but mighty organization doing great things. We invite you to get to know us!
Throughout the world, horseback riding is considered a uniquely beneficial form of therapy for individuals living with a disability or special need. A horse’s gait, similar to the human walk, helps strengthen spine and pelvic muscles, improves posture and coordination, and increases joint mobility.
Beyond the tangible benefits, horseback riding grants a newfound freedom and presents a combination of new sounds and sensations. Whether the disability is physical, cognitive, behavioral, or emotional, the individual’s accomplishments, while working with a horse, provide a tremendous boost to confidence and self-worth.
Any individual with a physical, cognitive or emotional disability may apply for We Can Ride’s programs. All clients receive a personal evaluation from the Program Supervisor and a Physical or Occupational Therapist. Clients will be placed in the most appropriate program and class based on their riding skill level. Classes are conducted by PATH International Certified Instructors who are assisted by volunteers.
